Sunrise Play Café Brand

Founder Story

When we first started thinking about the vision for our café, we both knew we wanted to incorporate the sun in some way. As parents, we’ve always found meaningful connections in the early mornings—up at sunrise, searching for places to go and get out of the house with our kids. That’s when the idea hit: Sunrise Play Café. It felt so natural, as it perfectly reflected both our experiences and what we wanted to create—a bright, welcoming space for families. From there, everything else about our brand came together just as effortlessly, driven by our clear, shared vision for fostering connections and community.

Meet Jordan

Hi, I’m Jordan! Becoming a mom of two under two taught me quickly that it was often easier to get out of the house than to feel trapped inside. But many places just didn’t have the right vibe for my kids and me, and finding somewhere open early enough before lunch, naptime, or when trying to fill those precious wake windows felt nearly impossible. That’s when I realized there was a need—not just for my family, but for so many others. My background in childcare, teaching preschool, and connecting with parents, along with my experience becoming a parent myself, has truly prepared me for this role. As a Montessori parent, I’ve seen how incorporating these principles into raising my kids has enhanced their independence and skills. My passion for creating experiences, fostering connections, and enriching the community, combined with my experience in retail and business management, made creating Sunrise Play Café a natural fit. It’s a space that serves both a personal and shared need, and I’m so excited to bring it to life, creating a place where kids can be kids, explore, imagine, and shine!

Meet Susan

My name is Susan. I am a PNW native and I have been an Emergency Room Charge Nurse in Tacoma for the last 15 years. I met my husband Sabino while he was in the Army at JBLM. Together we have 2 beautiful and busy children. As a mother of a 4-year-old and 2-year-old, I am constantly struggling to find fun, safe and engaging activities for my children. Jordan came into my life at a time when trying to make Mom Friends was life-saving. We came up with the play café idea because we know that other young families are going through the same struggles. Our mission for creating this business is to bring families together, build community and have a safe space our children can play while we enjoy a nice coffee. I strongly believe that it takes a village to raise children and being there for one another is paramount. With our play café, we will offer a space for our community to come together, slow down, relax, enjoy a beverage and an amazing locally made pastry, have fellowship, grow and learn.
